As we reflect upon the progress and achievements of Lazbuddie ISD throughout this school year, I am pleased to provide you with an overview of the strategic planning efforts that have been undertaken in collaboration with Region 16’s Texas Strategic Leaderships Team. Our engagement with stakeholders both within and outside our district has been instrumental in shaping the direction of our future endeavors.

At the heart of our strategic plan lies the theme, Right Where You Need to Be. This theme encapsulates our commitment to create a truly unique educational experience for the students we serve. This includes ensuring that every member of our school community is provided with the necessary support and resources to thrive.

Our mission, vision, envisioned student experiences, and the profile of a graduate serve as guiding lights, illuminating the path forward for Lazbuddie ISD. They outline not only where we are headed but also who we aspire to become as a learning community. They provide a clear sense of purpose and direction, ensuring that our efforts remain focused and aligned. As we delve into the specifics of our strategic priorities, it’s essential to highlight that each priority will be underpinned by concrete goals and measurements. These goals will serve as mile markers on our journey, helping us gauge our progress and make course corrections as needed. By establishing clear metrics for success, we can hold ourselves accountable and ensure that we are making meaningful strides toward our shared vision.

Our first priority centers on fostering high expectations for all students, both in terms of curriculum and behavior. By setting rigorous standards and providing targeted support, we aim to create an environment where every student can thrive academically and socially.

Our second priority focuses on preparing all students for post-secondary success. Whether they choose to pursue higher education, enter the workforce, or embark on other paths, we are committed to equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed in life beyond high school.

Finally, our third priority centers on strategic recruitment and retention, recognizing that our success as a school district hinges on the talent and dedication of our staff and students. By attracting and retaining exceptional educators and creating a supportive and inclusive environment, we can ensure that Lazbuddie ISD remains a place where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.

Lazbuddie ISD has prioritized aligning and implementing a high quality curriculum by creating a system of consistent alignment and implementation of high-quality curriculum utilizing a structured approach:


STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
Engage teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community members to gather insights on expectations and priorities related to curriculum and behavior.


EDUCATIONAL GOALS AND VALUES
Guide curriculum and behavior expectations, articulating overarching goals and values, including academic achievement, character development, and inclusivity.


CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
Form a curriculum development team to define learning standards, objectives, and outcomes based on educational research. Develop comprehensive frameworks and plans for each grade level or subject.


BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
Craft clear behavior guidelines reflecting school values, promoting a positive culture, and ensuring a safe learning environment.


ALIGNMENT AND INTEGRATIONS
Ensure cohesion between curriculum goals and behavior expectations, integrating social-emotional learning competencies into the curriculum.


DOCUMENTATION AND COMMUNICATION
Document expectations and guidelines, communicating them consistently through various channels to all stakeholders.


TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Provide training and ongoing support for educators to implement the curriculum effectively and manage behavior in the classroom.


MONITORING, FEEDBACK, EVALUATION, AND REVISION
Implement systems to monitor and evaluate curriculum implementation and behavior expectations, gathering data to assess progress and identify areas for improvement. Gather stakeholder feedback to make necessary revisions and adjustments to the curriculum and behavior guidelines, fostering continuous improvement and alignment with evolving needs.


ACCOUNTABILITY AND RECOGNITION
Hold students accountable through consistent enforcement of consequences and rewards, recognizing and celebrating academic achievement and positive behavior.

Post-Secondary Readiness

INITIATIVE: Create a system that ensures all Lazbuddie ISD students are prepared for Post-Secondary Success


CREATE A SYSTEM FOR EFFECTIVE AND CONSISTENT ADVISING
Lazbuddie ISD will enhance student success and post-secondary readiness through an effective advising system. A structured calendar guides students through post-secondary exploration, including college visits, career fairs, and professional interviews based on student-driven goals. A network of mentors to coach and support students, in small groups, as they work to meet individual goals. The goal is to assist students in successfully navigating their K-12 experience and graduating with a clear post-secondary plan.


INVESTIGATE EFFECTIVE ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS FOR ALL LEARNERS
Lazbuddie ISD will guide curriculum and behavior expectations, articulating overarching goals and values, this includes academic achievement, character development and inclusivity.


CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
Lazbuddie ISD will explore effective assessment systems for all learners. We aim to investigate the impact of creating a portfolio-based assessment system for reading/language arts and mathematics to track students progress throughout K-12, providing valuable insights to staff and enhancing communication with parents.


CREATE A CLEAR, SPECIFIC, PURPOSEFUL SCOPE AND SEQUENCE TO TEACH SKILLS ALIGNED WITH THE PROFILE OF A GRADUATE
Lazbuddie ISD will create a K-12 scope and sequence for soft skills aligned with the Profile of a Graduate. A dedicated team will map age-appropriate skills, train staff, and adjust the curriculum as needed. The district also plans to develop a mentorship and enhanced counseling programs.

Recruitment & Retention of Students & Staff

DEVELOP A STRATEGIC AND INNNOVATIVE RETENTION PLAN
Lazbuddie will develop a strategic compensation plan to attract and retain educators as well as strategically market the district. We will annually review district compensation, comparing salaries, stipends, benefits and housing with similar-sized districts. The district is exploring strategic compensation opportunities.

In light of insightful analysis of past data, Lazbuddie ISD identified a pressing need: the development and execution of a Purposeful Recruitment and Retention Strategy. Recognizing the critical importance of attracting and retaining top-tier talent, the district is poised to embark on a strategic journey aimed at fortifying its educational workforce. With a steadfast commitment to cultivating an environment conducive to professional growth and fulfillment, this initiative underscore the district’s dedication to nurturing a vibrant community of educators dedicated to the success and well-being of every student.
